Cocochoco Original was designed specifically for strong, thick, porous and coarse hair. It combines natural keratin protein (which rebuilds, restores and nourishes the hair) with a rich content of natural ingredients (mostly cocoa extract) to eliminate defects and strengthen the hair structure from a molecular level. Cocochoco Original contains organic ingredients, mineral silicone and pure keratin. It penetrates deep into the hair fibre to leave a long lasting, straightened hair effect.

What is a Keratin Straightening Treatment?
The Cocochoco line of keratin straightening products consists of advanced, in-salon treatments that restore and restructure the hair by infusing a special blend of hydrolyzed keratin deep into the cuticle. The hydrolyzed keratin is bonded to the cuticle with heat from a flat iron to relax the hair’s subcuticular layer, resulting in renewed smoothness and shine.
How much time should be allowed for each client?
Time should be determined on an individual basis. Cocochoco recommends an initial consultation with each client to determine hair length, type and texture. As a general rule, please allow a two to three-hour window for the keratin treatment.
What results can be expected after the Keratin Straightening Treatment?
The hair will become more manageable, easier to style, and resistant to humidity. It will feel noticeably softer and silkier, with added life & shine.
Can I colour/highlight my hair after the treatment?
Yes, you can safely colour your hair 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the treatment. For better results, we recommend to bleach/highlight hair 2 weeks before the treatment, and colour/dye the hair 2 weeks after the treatment.
Should the hair be cut before or after the treatment?
We recommend that the hair be cut after the treatment, as the hair will have a smoother texture and will lie differently.
Can the treatments be done on chemically treated, relaxed or straightened hair?
Yes. In fact, the Cocochoco keratin treatments work to repair damage caused by chemical treatments. It is recommended to wait two weeks between any chemical treatments and to adjust iron temperature based on hair type, as outlined in the training.
How many days after the treatment before the hair can get wet or be washed?
You must wait three days (72 hours) before washing your hair or swimming.
Can the hair be pulled back or clipped up during the 72-hour waiting period?
No. Avoid making any impressions on the hair from clips, ponytail holders, hats or sunglasses.
What should be done if the hair gets wet during the 72-hour waiting period?
Blow-dry and flat iron with medium to low heat as soon as possible.
What kind of shampoo and conditioner should be used to maintain the treatment?
Only sulphate-free shampoo & conditioner should be used. Any shampoo & conditioner available on our website is suitable for use with keratin treated hair (excluding the Cocochoco Clarifying Shampoo).
Does Cocochoco have sulphate-free formulated shampoo?
Yes, all of the shampoos available on our website are sulphate-free.
What should I do to maintain my treatment results?
The best way to maintain your treatment results is with a couple of simple lifestyle adjustments. Minimise the hair’s exposure to chlorine and other harsh chemicals, as well as sodium/sulphate found in the ocean, salt water pools, water softener and human perspiration. It is also recommended to use the Cocochoco Ceramide collection of products.
How often can the Keratin Straightening Treatment be performed?
The treatment can be done as often as every 4 to 6 weeks.

How long will the treatment results last?
The Cocochoco keratin straightening treatment lasts 3 – 6 months depending on lifestyle, maintenance and adherence to all aftercare instructions.
